Solid Inspector — find holes and stray edges

What does this tool do?

Solid Inspector checks each selected group or component with the same shell algorithms as ThomThom Solid Inspector 2 (Shellify): outer shell walk, internal/external/reversed faces, stray edges, face holes, and surface borders. Only non-solid objects are listed and selected. Flat nested decorations such as ABF labels and markers are ignored when counting nested instances.

How to run it

  1. Select one or more groups or components.
  2. Click Solid Inspector.
  3. The list shows ID — name — error count. Click a row for detail and to focus that object.
  4. Find, next to Fix all, selects every object still in the list and closes the window.
  5. Fix all erases stray edges, face holes, internal/external faces, shows hidden faces, and reverses reversed faces — then re-scans and keeps only objects that are still not solid. Surface borders, internal-face edges, and nested 3D instances are reported only. Close with the window X.

From Extra Label

Check Run Solid Inspector in the Extra Label confirmation. After explode, this window opens. Close with X and labelling continues on the remaining selection.

The loose edge is gone and the board outline stays

Common problems

  • Select first: empty selection or only loose edges.
  • Still not solid after Fix all: surface borders or nested 3D groups remain — fix those by hand and run again.
